Approaching halfway

I am so close to the halfway mark I can almost smell it... Am definitely going to crack the 50,000 word point today. Definitely!

Spent yesterday working on the novel and have finished my chapter with the nightmare family get-together which was thoroughly enjoyable to write. Lots of shouting, flouncing about and bitchy looks. (Just like tea-time in this very house most nights of the week, in fact.) Am just about to get stuck into a dramatic development that follows on from this, a big turning point in the plot. Oooohhh....exciting.

Anyway, listen out for a loud cheer when I reach 50,000 words later on. Getting past the midway point of a novel always feels such an achievement.

WTG!!!! It's so much fun when it almost writes its self - when you can see everything there in front of you. You make me jealous. Maybe I should break the break and get back to writing!!

On another note, I want to profile all the novel racers........would you be brave enough to write me a paragraph or two about anything realy......your writing style, how you started, why you need chocolate while writing, a shoe fetish perhaps, where you find your idea........you get the idea. We are such a diverse lot I thought it would be fun :-)

Great idea, Liz. Will send you something later on.

Glad you are nearly at the midway mark too, hellojed - me, you and Helen must all be pretty close now...

Oh goodness I've just got in from a morning at the pre-school and I find you are nearly at 50,000. I'm going to finish my breakfast (it's been a long morning) and crack on.

Congrats from a snail...

I'm up to about 12 000 now I think, having just got 2500 under my belt today, the first bit of writing in ages.

My aim is to get to the end of section one by half term.... eek

God, don't worry about it, you two, I have done bugger all so far today. In fact, 50,000 words suddenly seems a long way off all over again!
Me and my big mouth...

Yes, but do you know, your assurances that you were going to reach 50,000 today has really put a rocket up my backside (if you excuse the expresson). I've finally made it to 50,000. I could have been fannying about blogging and such like, but instead I've got on with it, determined to keep slightly ahead of you! I know this isn't a proper race, but I'm using your word count, in my head, as my motivator. Hope you don't mind! ;) It's great this racing thing. I would have stopped ages ago without it.

Helen, that's fantastic!!! Well done! Brilliant. And of course I don't mind you using my word count as a motivator... just a bit jealous that you are doing so well! :)

I am still trailing and faffing around. Must try harder. Not going to go online again for a whole hour to try to push mine along, too...

Oh, is that it, Helen? This race isn't about blogging lots, then? You mean we have to actually write a novel? Oh, well, in that case, I'd better get on...

I'm so jealous of all of you, my story is most definitely NOT telling itself!
